Who Am I?
My name is Tim Coffin, I am a Master of Arts candidate in MCAD’s Sustainable Design program. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the Royal Military College of Canada (2003), and have since been employed with the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) as a Military Pilot. I am in the process of transitioning from the RCAF to pursue other business/entrepreneurial ambitions with sustainability in mind. I am an enthusiastic, self-starter with a positive, solution-seeking attitude. I chose to pursue this program to further expand my education and knowledge in sustainable design, and to gain the much needed tools to create change. I was born and raised on Prince Edward Island and now reside in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Sustainability Statement / Philosophy
My philosophy when it comes to sustainability, aligns with the following definition provided by the Global Development Research Centre:
"Sustainability is maintaining a delicate balance between the human need to improve lifestyles and feeling of well-being on one hand, and preserving natural resources and ecosystems, on which we and future generations depend."
ref. http://www.gdrc.org/sustdev/definitions.html
I believe in a synergistic approach between humans and nature; each thriving by the presence and dependance of the other.
